Social Central – Trust & Safety Controls

Effective Date: 2026-07-17 · How we identify and detect AUP violations

Social Central maintains an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) that restricts age, illegal activity, and prohibited content or behavior (including sexually explicit profile content, child sexual exploitation, sexual violence, non-consensual content, trafficking, and scam activity). This page summarizes the controls we use to identify and detect violations of that AUP.

1. Published Rules

• Public AUP: https://socialcentral.net/aup/

• Users must accept Terms / AUP to use the Service

2. Age Controls

• Service is limited to adults 18 years or older; users under 18 are not permitted
• Photos of children are prohibited in any album or message
• Child sexual exploitation / abuse content is strictly prohibited; we may report to NCMEC / law enforcement per our Law Enforcement Protocols
• Accounts found to belong to underage users are terminated

3. User Reporting and Self-Protection Tools

• Report Abuse / Report — available on profiles and on social feed posts and comments (web and iOS)
• Block — stops interaction; blocked relationships also hide relevant feed content and engagement
• Not for Me — lets users remove unwanted people from discovery without needing staff mediation
• Reports create support / moderation records for review and for automated thresholds (below)

4. Automated Detection — Report Volume Ban

• If five (5) unique users report the same account within five (5) days, the account may be automatically banned
• This threshold applies to profile abuse reports and to reports of feed posts / comments attributed to that user
• Banned accounts are frozen / removed from normal use; rejoining with a new account to evade a ban is prohibited and flagged
• Admin / demo accounts are excluded from auto-ban edge cases

5. Staff / Admin Review

• Support Requests queue for user-submitted abuse and safety reports
• Login Support queue for pre-login / anonymous safety and account messages (with rate limits, CAPTCHA / ALTCHA, and spam controls)
• Admins may warn, remove content, suspend, or permanently ban for AUP violations at our discretion

6. Content and Profile Controls

• Mandatory visible-face primary profile photo policy (reduces fake / non-person profiles)
• Prohibition on nudity and sexually explicit profile / album / message content
• Prohibition on AI-generated / synthetic media
• Prohibition on impersonation and fake pictures; we may use reverse image search and similar tools
• Technical measures against unauthorized capture / redistribution of private content (screenshot / screen-recording protections where implemented)

7. Platform Integrity Controls

• VPN / privacy-tunnel blocking on sensitive flows where configured
• Geographic / country access blocking where configured
• Rate limiting and anti-bot controls on anonymous support intake (honeypot, IP blocks, hourly caps)
• Ban / disabled account status checked at login; banned users receive notice paths via support email processes

8. Enforcement Outcomes

• Content deletion
• Warnings
• Temporary suspension or permanent ban
• Retention of banned-account records for safety / compliance
• Referral to law enforcement when required (see Law Enforcement Protocols)
